Parcel lockers on Shopify: four ways to do it
There is more than one way to offer parcel lockers and print labels in a Shopify store. Here is how each works, so you can pick what fits.
A carrier’s own app
Some carriers offer their own Shopify app. It covers that one carrier: if you ship with two or three, you run two or three apps, each with its own screens and its own locker picker.
A widget from your payment provider
Some payment providers add a locker choice in the cart. It ties shipping to that provider, and a choice in the cart is skipped by Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay express buttons.
CSV export and the carrier’s website
Free, but every day means exporting orders, uploading them, copying tracking numbers back by hand – and the buyer can’t pick a locker unless you add one shipping rate per locker.
One app for all carriers (Lockership)
LP Express, Omniva, DPD and Venipak in one place: the buyer picks a locker after payment or in checkout, you create all labels at once, statuses and returns stay on the Shopify order.
Five questions to ask
- Does it work with every carrier you use, and with express checkout?
- Can you create labels for all of today’s orders in one go?
- Do tracking statuses reach the Shopify order and the buyer?
- Are returns covered, including the EU withdrawal button?
- Do you keep your own carrier contract and prices?
