Questions and answers

What Shopify stores ask before they start, grouped by topic. Where it helps, the answer links to the guide that shows it.

Getting started

Do I need my own contract with the carriers?
Yes. Labels are made through your own LP Express, Omniva, DPD or Venipak business account, so your prices and invoices stay with the carrier. You enter each login once in Settings → Carriers. See how to connect carriers.
Which Shopify plan do I need?
Any plan. Labels, tracking, returns and the locker choice after payment work on every Shopify plan. Only lockers inside checkout need carrier-calculated shipping: Advanced and Plus include it, and so does Grow when billed yearly; on other plans Shopify may offer it as a paid add-on – check in your Shopify admin. More about parcel lockers.
Does it work on my phone and in the Shopify mobile app?
Yes. Creating labels, booking the courier, changing a locker and handling returns all work on a phone, in the browser and in the Shopify mobile app.
Can I keep my current shipping app while I try it?
Yes. Lockership only works on the orders you tick, so you can run it next to another app and move over one carrier at a time.
Are Omniva and DPD ready?
Both integrations are built and are now being checked with the first stores’ live accounts. LP Express and Venipak are in daily use.
Who builds Lockership?
I do – Kacper, a Shopify developer. I have worked with online stores for 4 years, building themes, apps and carrier integrations. Questions sent to support@lockership.com come straight to me, and I try to answer on the same working day. More about me.
Can I ask for a new feature?
Yes. Write to support@lockership.com and describe what your store needs. If it would help other stores too, I’ll gladly add it to Lockership.
Does it work with WooCommerce or other platforms?
Not yet. Lockership is a Shopify app today, and other platforms are planned. Tell us which one you use.

Parcel lockers

Can buyers change the locker later?
Yes, on the order status page (the link in their order email), until you create the label. After that the choice is locked so the parcel and the order match. You can also change it yourself from the order in Lockership. See the picker guide.
How does the buyer find the right locker?
The picker lists the nearest lockers to the delivery address, with distance, and the buyer can search by street, city or locker name. It shows only lockers of the carrier in the chosen delivery method.
What happens with subscription renewals?
Renewal orders arrive without a locker. Lockership copies the locker from the buyer’s previous order with the same carrier, so you don’t have to ask again. You can turn this off in Settings → Subscriptions.
Which languages do buyers see? Can I change the texts?
The picker speaks English, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Finnish and German, picked from the buyer’s checkout language. In Translations you can rewrite any text or add another language. The returns page has its own set of texts.
Which countries are covered?
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with all four carriers. DPD Pickup lockers and parcels also in 22 more EU countries. Shipping outside the EU and carriers like DHL or UPS aren’t supported yet.

Labels and carriers

How does cash on delivery work?
All four carriers support it on your own contract, in euros. Mark which payment methods mean cash on delivery; for unpaid orders the amount is filled in and you can change it per label. Omniva also needs your IBAN and receiver name.
Can I ship from several warehouses?
Yes. Add a shipping location per warehouse or shop, each with its own sender and pick-up address, and choose where each batch ships from. See the setup guide.
Does it change my Shopify fulfilment and tracking emails?
Creating a label marks the order fulfilled in Shopify with the tracking number, and Shopify can email it to the buyer (you choose). Carrier scans then update that fulfilment every 12 hours or when you press Sync. Shopify’s own delivery emails follow your Shopify notification settings.
Is my carrier password safe?
It is encrypted before it is stored, used only to talk to that carrier and never shown again, not even to you. To change it, enter a new one; leaving the field empty keeps the saved one.

Returns and exchanges

Can buyers return or exchange items themselves?
Yes. Your store gets a returns page where buyers ask for a refund, store credit, or another size, colour or product. You approve every request, and each one also shows on the Shopify order. See how to set it up.
Where do returned parcels go?
To the sender address printed on the original label. That includes Omniva’s automatic return codes, which go straight back to the sender. If your courier collects from another address, Lockership warns you so you can put the right return address on the labels.
How is a price difference paid in an exchange?
If the new item costs more, Shopify emails the buyer a payment link when you approve. If it costs less, you refund the difference when you mark the old item received. If the order already had an unpaid balance, for example cash on delivery, you send the invoice from Shopify yourself. See the exchanges guide.
Can I export returns for accounting?
Yes, for any period, in Excel, CSV or PDF: refunds by method, VAT, store credit, extra paid for exchanges and what went back to stock.

Data and security

What data does Lockership keep?
Only what shipping and returns need: your settings, carrier logins (encrypted) and return requests. Each store’s data is kept apart. Details are in the privacy policy.
What happens to my data when I uninstall?
Shopify tells us when you uninstall, and everything about your store is deleted 48 hours later, when Shopify asks us to. When a buyer asks Shopify to delete their data, their return requests are deleted too.

Try Lockership on your store before it reaches the App Store

We are starting with a small group of Shopify stores in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Leave your email, and I will help you connect your carriers.
